How to Add or Re-Add a Network Printer to a Computer

This article will guide you on how to solve a printer showing offline and how you can connect to a network printer

Procedure:

1. First, identify the exact printer (brand and model) experiencing this issue. (e.g. Toshiba e-Studio 5015C).


2. Check Printer Status


For Offline or Printing Issues:

a. Go to the Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers.

b. Right-click the printer and select Properties.

c. Look for the Ports tab and check if the IP address is showing. Then take note of the IP address.


For Printer Not Found:

a. Search online for the printer's software suite (using the model and brand).

b. Download and install the software.
c. Open the printer's software suite and this should automatically detect the printer. If not, proceed with step number 3.


3. If the IP address is known then you can add the printer by:

a. Going to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers

b. Click Add Printer.

c. Select 'The printer that I want isn't listed'.

4. Add the IP address of the printer you want to add.

5. In case the printer was not added, download the required drivers first then repeat the steps to add the printer via IP address.
