How to Send Email from an Alias Email

This Article will help you set up a custom 'From' address in your Gmail which will allow you to send messages that appear to come from your alias email address.

Procedure:

1. Go to https://mail.google.com and click on the gear icon in the upper-right corner of the screen. Then select ' See all settings.'

2. In the Settings menu, navigate and click the 'Accounts' tab.

3. Under the Send mail as, click 'Add another email address you own.'

4. In the Email address field, enter your name and the email alias address. Then Click Next Step and follow the prompts.

5. To send the email using this Alias, click on the 'From' field When composing a new email. You'll see a drop-down menu where you can choose the alias address.

6. If you're replying to or forwarding a message, click the field where your recipients are listed, then click “From”. You'll see a drop-down menu next to your address, where you can select your alias email address.

Important notes:

  • The messages you send will now appear to be from this alias email address. Only recipients who look at the original message header will see your primary email address.
  • If you ever need to edit the name, configuration or reply-to address, you can go back to your settings. Then click edit next to the address on your Accounts tab. (To delete an address, just click delete.)
