Sync for Procore: How to Connect Microsoft Project Desktop app to Procore

Prerequisite:

  • Procore Account
  • Sharepoint Site: PWA URL - Make sure that PWA site is existing.
  • Microsoft Project Desktop Versions:
    • Microsoft Office 365
    • Microsoft Project Professional


Steps:

Install MS Project desktop app

1. Go to https://office.com/.

2. Login using the MS Project account. (i.e. project@cyberco.software.

3. Click on ’Install and more’, then ‘Install Microsoft 365 apps.’


4. A new tab will open to view the apps available for the account.

5. Project is under Apps and Devices. Click Install Project to download the installer.

6. Go to the Downloads folder and install the app on your computer. It will take a while to fully install.

Configure Server Settings


1. Open the Project app on your computer.

2. Create a New Blank Project.

3. Go to File>Info>Manage Accounts>Configure Accounts.


4. A new window will pop up. Click "Add" and type in the PWA details.. Then click OK.

5. You can opt in setting the new account as default or select Choose an account if you have multiple accounts connected.

6. You may now try saving the project in the PWA site. Go to File>Save As. Make sure the name of the connected account is visible.

Click Save.


7. You will be prompted to put a name on the document. Everything should stay as is. Hit Save.

Verification

1. Go to https://project.microsoft.com/.

Note: Make sure you are logged in using the MS Project account.

2. The project should be visible in the recent list.


Troubleshooting


1. In the Project file on the desktop app, make sure that the server is connected. To verify, the globe icon should have a check mark.

2. If it seems offline, just click the globe icon, and select Connect to server.

3. This should re-establish the connection to the PWA site.

4. Save the file again and wait for it to reflect in https://project.microsoft.com/.

5. Once saved, we need to publish the schedule to Procore. In the desktop project application, go to File>Info>Publish.

Syncing to Procore

Before you proceed in these steps, please make sure that PWA URL is connected under the Connections page.
